Flexible MiniPCI to PCI Express Adapter

The Flexible MiniPCI to PCI Express Bus Adapter (Adapter) was designed to convert a standard MiniPCI bus into a PCI Express bus. It allows you to connect an x1 PCI Express board to a motherboard that has a standard 124-pin MiniPCI connector.

The adapter includes a MiniPCI host card, x1 PCI Express adapter board and a PCI Express Flat Cable.

The x1 PCI Express adapter board has a standard PCI express x1 connector for plugging in the x1 PCI Express expansion board (downstream). The MiniPCI host card connects to the motherboard MiniPCI connector. The PCI Express Flat cable (12 inches) is used for connecting the host card and the x1 PCI Express adapter, and it provides a flexible connection between the x1 PCI Express add-in board and the motherboard.

The power (12V and 3.3V) for the downstream board is supplied via a female PCI Express connector which is placed on the PCI Express adapter board. Power for the x1 PCI Express adapter board is supplied via a 4-pin power connector. Depending on the x1 PCI Express adapter board type, it can use different power sources:
-- cable from the MiniPCI host card (3.3V only)
-- a standard ATX power supply (12V and 5V)
-- an external power supply (12V)

The x1 PCI Express adapter board has mounting holes for its mechanical fixation inside the computer chassis (embedded computer), and support tabs for mechanical stabilization of an add-in PCI Express expansion board (US Patent 7,255,570).
