Flexible MiniPCI to PCI Express Adapter

Flexible MiniPCI to PCI Express Bus Adapter (Adapter) designed to convert standard MiniPCI bus into PCI Express bus. It allows connecting x1 PCI Express board to the motherboard that has standard 124-pin MiniPCI connector.

Adapter includes MiniPCI Interface board, x1 PCI Express adapter board and Flat PCI Express Cable.

x1 PCI Express adapter board has a standard PCI express x1 connector for plug-in x1 PCI Express expansion board (downstream). MiniPCI Interface board connects to the motherboard MiniPCI connector. Flat PCI Express cable (12 inches) is used for connection between Interface board and x1 PCI Express adapter and provides flexible connection between PCI Express expansion board and the motherboard.

The power (12V and 3.3V) for downstream board is supplied via female PCI Express connector placed on the PCI Express adapter board. Power for the x1 PCI Express adapter board is supplied via 4 pin power connector. Depend of the x1 PCI Express adapter board type it can take power from the different sources:
-- taken directly via cable from MiniPCI Interface board (3.3V only)
-- from standard ATX power supply (12V and 5V)
-- form external power supply (12V)

x1 PCI Express adapter board has mounting holes for it’s mechanical fixation inside the computer chassis (embedded computer) and support tabs for mechanical stabilization of add-in PCI Express expansion board (US Patent 7,255,570).
