Flexible MiniPCI Express to x1 PCI Express Riser (Riser) designed to convert MiniPCI Express bus into x1 PCI Express bus and extend it. It allows connecting x1 PCI express expansion add-in board in-to motherboard MiniPCI Express connector.
Riser includes x1 PCI Express adapter board, MiniPCI Express Interface board and Flat PCI Express Cable.
MiniPCI Express Interface board connects to the motherboard MiniPCI Express connector. Flat PCI Express cable (12 inches) is used for connection between Interface board and x1 PCI Express adapter board and provides flexible connection between PCI expansion add-in board and the motherboard.
The power (12V and 3.3V) for PCI Express expansion board is supplied via female PCI Express connector. The power source for expansion board can be taken from MiniPCI Express Interface board (3V only), from standard ATX power supply (12V and 5V) or from external 12 volt power supply.
x1 PCI Express adapter board has mounting holes for it’s mechanical fixation inside the computer chassis (embedded computer) and support tabs for mechanical stabilization of add-in PCI Express expansion board (US Patent 7,255,570).
