TORONTO – April 9, 2013 – AMFELTEC Corporation (www.amfeltec.com), a leading supplier of custom computing solutions and electronic equipment for hardware/software developers, original equipment manufacturers and system integrators, introduces a new line of Expansion Backplanes that includes a “PCI/PCIe Expansion Backplane” and a “PCI Express Expansion Backplane”.

Newer computers today no longer provide legacy PCI slots, but modern engineering products still rely on legacy PCI technology. At the same time, the number of PCI express slots inside the host computer continues to decrease, but a wide variety applications, including telecommunication, video gaming, storage, embedded control systems, still require a large number of peripheral interfaces. The new line of AMFELTEC Expansion Backplanes has been designed to meet these requirements.

The PCI Express Expansion Backplane has four x16 PCI Express connectors (one lane) that supports bandwidth 5 Gbit/sec in both directions and is complaint with PCI Express Specification 2.0.

The PCI/PCIe Expansion Backplane has four 32-bit PCI connectors that supports 33/64 MHz operation and is complaint with PCI Specification 3.0 and two x16 PCI Express connectors (one lane) that supports bandwidth 5 Gbit/sec in both directions and is complaint with PCI Express Specification 2.0.

Both Expansion Backplanes were designed based on the ATX Specification 2.0 and can be installed in any off-the-shelf general purpose computer chassis. They can be powered by any standard ATX power supply and connected with the Desktop or Laptop Host computer via standard CAT6 cable (5 or 10 ft. length) and x1 PCI express or ExpressCard® Host board.

“Our Expansion Backplanes have come about from years of engineering and system development experience,” says AMFELTEC Corporation President and CTO Michael Feldman. “By designing these Expansion Backplanes, we are making available a much needed, market ready, flexible and cost effective solution for creating PCI and PCI Express Expansion systems. By using our backplanes, customers can create 1U/2U or full size expansion systems that can support short or full-length PCI/PCI Express boards. And by using any general purpose ATX power supply expansion systems can meet any system power requirement,” adds Feldman.

The PCI/PCIe Expansion Backplane and PCI Express Expansion Backplanes are now in full production and can be shipped immediately. For more information please visit company website www.amfeltec.com.
