AMFELTEC Corporation Launches Flexible PCI Express, MiniPCI and MiniPCI Express Splitter Suite

TORONTO, ONTARIO–(Marketwire – February 22, 2010) – AMFELTEC Corporation, a leading provider of equipment dedicated to hardware/software development and electronic design manufacturing, has launched a new Suite of the Bus Splitters that allows splitting and extending different type of interfaces via 12″ PCI Express Flat Cable. By using this Suite it is possible to split MiniPCI, MiniPCI Express, x1 PCI Express and x4 PCI Express buses to multiple 32-bit PCI and x1 PCI Express buses.

MiniPCI, MiniPCI Express and PCI Express interfaces are becoming increasingly popular in the modern motherboard for embedded designs. Those interfaces are very compact and support high bandwidth traffic between motherboard itself and external add-in peripheral boards. At the same time, the number of the peripheral connectors is becoming limited (usually one PCI Express connector and/or one MiniPCI Express connector and/or one MiniPCI connector). The new Suite is designed to make it possible to split any motherboard peripheral interface to multiple PCI or PCI express buses.

Each product of the Suite includes host card (that supports x1 PCI Express, x4 PCI Express, MiniPCI or MiniPCI Express buses), multiple PCI Express Flat cables and multiple adapter boards with two 32-bit PCI connectors or x1 PCI express connector.

AMFELTEC pays additional attention to the mechanical stabilization of the external add-in peripheral boards and host cards by implementing unique features:

o Stabilization Tabs for add-in PCI express cards (US Patent 7,255,570)
o PCI Express board Retainer for holding PCI express host card in PCI express connector without bracket (Patent pending)

“By using AMFELTEC Flexible PCI Express, MiniPCI and MiniPCI Express Splitter Suite designer, a designer can easily connect up to 4 peripheral add-in boards to one motherboard interface connector” says Michael Feldman, President and CTO of AMFELTEC Corp. “This solution opens the market to using almost any motherboard for embedded designs, eliminating the limitation of a number of peripheral connectors on the motherboard. At the same time, by using flexible connection via flat cable the chasse design for embedded appliances becomes significantly easier, cost effective and motherboard type independent”.

The Suite is in full production. For additional information, please visit the company website (www.amfeltec.com).
